African American mother Clarissa Rankin, 36, of Charlotte, North Carolina, has defied expectations by becoming a successful truck driver. Because she enjoys her work, she launched her own trucking company, JC Rankins Transport, which brought in more than $144,000 in revenue last year alone.

Before, Rankin had no intention of working as a truck driver. She was a substitute teacher while also pursuing a degree in criminal justice. At the time, her monthly income of $1,900 was insufficient to sustain her family.

She was encouraged to attempt driving a truck by her husband, who had experience in the trucking business. In contrast to an office job, she immediately fell in love with her career. She even succeeded on her first attempt at getting her truck driving license, disproving everyone.

She says, “People always have this mental picture of a truck driver as a man with a big old stomach, a big old beard, and wearing overalls.” “I enjoy watching people’s faces when they ask, ‘Can you drive that?'” I respond, “Yes, I have this, honey.”

However, Rankin struggled to get employment because of his unique background. Before being employed, she was repeatedly rejected. She earned nearly $50,000 a year at the time, but she thought it was still insufficient.

Rankin decided to launch JC Rankins Transport, her own trucking company. For the past four years, she has operated trucks to move various items up and down the East Coast. She had complete control over her schedule and made more money than at her past jobs. The business made $144,208 in revenue last year and earned around $73,000 after expenses.

Rankin, who has 1.8 million TikTok followers right now, also earns money by posting material about her life as a truck driver on social media. Last year, she made $36,000 from advertisements and promotional videos.

She also appreciates her husband’s assistance, who works from home as a filmmaker and looks after their boys when she is away. Despite criticism from others about her profession and the difficulties she has as a woman truck driver, she keeps doing what she loves.
