Bantom’s lecture, Design for Identity: The Importance of Cultural Competence for the Design Profession, will explain how and why designers should include cultural identity.

At the High Point Market keynote, Bantom will share her Design for Identity BlueprintTM concepts, which aim to empower marginalized individuals through interior design.

Bantom wrote Design for Identity: How to Design Authentically for a Diverse World. She helps designers, companies, and teachers develop culturally sensitive creative processes in her consulting work. Bantom, a master of interior design, is certified in DEI, change management, design thinking, coaching, and facilitation.

HPMA and the Diversity Advocacy Alliance host this event.

“We are pleased to invite all interior designers and retailers to empower themselves and potentially reshape their business practices with the change management takeaways from this powerful presentation,” said DAA committee chair Patti Carpenter of Carpenter + Company. “DAA is thrilled to partner with High Point Market to bring this unique event to our community—the largest trade show in the industry.”

“We’re excited for Jessica Bantom to bring the important conversation around cultural identity in design to our registered guests at High Point Market,” adds HPMA president and CEO Tammy Nagem. Designers are essential to expanding our industry’s diversity, equality, and inclusion platform.

All registered High Point Market participants can attend the Saturday Keynote from 3 to 4 p.m., Opening at 2:30 p.m.

The trade fair organizer, HPMA, sponsors the yearly High Point Market Keynote Series.
